IT support people don't like Mac, since it makes them redundant!
Sort of. It makes them redundant because Apple try to stop anyone other than Apple from fixing them, even when Apple refuse to fix something! It just makes life so much harder and less fun. Years ago, it looked like switching to a Mach/BSD core might finally result in a car without the bonnet welded shut but then Apple found ways to weld the engine, alternator and pumps in, plus make the steering controls funny shapes... :thumbsdown:

No reason NOT to try Ubuntu for free on a dual boot or even on a memory stick before going to Mac, I have Ubuntu on my home PC, my 2 work PC's & a Macbook Pro as a laptop. Haven't used Windows for over 15 years now

Well, it depends if you want office software and photo reediting software, or if you absolutely must have click compatible MS Office and Adobe Photoshop or you'll sulk. Monopolists generally only support other monopolists, not community groups and benecoms.
