How best to combat the old Betty Swollocks and chaffing on your groin area ??
I wear padded shorts (Lycra) and have even tried normal shorts with padded briefs but my erm Scrotum seems to rub my groin ;).

Also getting irritated just under my bum cheeks in the space between top of legs and buttocks.

Thanks

I use Sudocrem (the baby's bum stuff).

It doesn't stop you sweating but will help keep everything nice and clean and stops irritation and is also very useful for clearing up any problem areas.

For longer rides I put it on beforehand but use it after showering at other times.

1. Make sure they are clean and dry at the start.

2. Wear padded cycle shorts - go 'commando'

3. Use chamois cream or Savlon or similar to keep nether regions soft... smooth

4. Clean pair of padded cycle shorts per day - wear once, wash once - and ensure they are dry before you put them on.

I personally use sudocrem but there are others creams.

After a ride, after showering, I apply conotrane or chafe-ease to ward off any redness or irritations. I also use daktarin if my skin does get infected.

Yes, I suffer with sweat rash etc ;)

How do you dry Shorts at Work ? We have no facilities so usually they will sit in my locker and just tend to fester in the day !
I could wash them in the showere with me but wouldn't be able to dry them.

Do you apply before riding ?
Usually ok on the commute to work but any more than 10 miles it all gets a bit hot.

I shave the ol' ball bag and have never suffered from an excessively sweaty groin or had infections/boils!

Lycra shorts/baggies/longs without underwear (going 'commando' as it seems to be universally known) is the only way; no chaffing, heat build-up etc.

Yes, sudocrem. I could use either of the others (conotrane or chafe-ease) but sudocrem is a thicker substance and, I find, works better and longer.

Conotrane and chafe-ease, being thinner creams, work in to the skin better and are soothing.

I always rinse my bib shorts in the shower after a ride, dry them off and put them in for a proper wash before wearing again. I have plenty though (maybe around a dozen all told) so I can do that.
