Oaf on a Bike
I went for front suspension (with lockout) to try it out and because I wasnt worried about a couple of extra kgs of weight while im carrying plenty of extra kgs on my body. It must waste quite an amount of energy though especially on steep hills if its not locked out, you can see the front bouncing with each pedal stroke.
I dont like my lockout, it doesnt lock it firmly in position - theres still maybe <1cm of travel so when hitting a pot hole or dropping off a kerb you can hear the fork(?) hitting the lockout. I thought it might have been a fault or bad setup but my friends bike does exactly the same thing so i dunno. So i tend to ride with the front suspension on for comfort/training and only occasionally lock it for a hill.
I figure when i drop the last 20kg i want to lose and upgrade my 20kg front sus bike with something lighter ill be seeing the benefits
