I don't have suspension on my hybred and after a long ride my arms ache from the shocks, I'm looking to see if you can get a shock on the handlebar post, bit like the ones on seat posts, Our roads are the worst in europe (I wonder why that is!).

No they are not. Hungary has some atrocious roads as I discovered this summer. Bits of Croatia and Serbia competed with Hungary for the worst roads that I have ridden on in the UK and Europe.

Very true.

All thanks to that wonderful invention, the pneumatic tyre.

In various sizes.

It took me a while to realise this.

I have two bikes with suspension but since i don't race down mountainsides i've eventually decided that it's a needless complication.

Getting suspension units serviced these days is also a right pain/nightmare.

Plus one to the person above who suggested returning the bike if at all possible.

When you see what a proper cyclocross bike can do on a horrific course, certainly made me question suspension, big tyres, triple chainsets,etc....MTBs in general, most riders never ride in anything like the conditions I seen that day....mostly I was shocked on the grip on the tyres they never seem to slip.

Generally I agree, I ride my hybrid over some farely rough ground/tracks/trails and unless the ground is very hard or stoney its no problem, unless coming downa hill at speed, then the suspension gives you more control and I can ride the bike (normally bum of the seat, standing on the peddles like riding a horse) faster down the track.
Though having said that I did a specialist off road course in south wales near port talbot this weekend and you needed every bit of suspion you could get, even the green routes (or baby route as descibed by my mate who does it regulary) had some nasty suprises.

generally on the road the only time I feel suspension would be nice is when you hit hose bone jarring holes in the road. - you may think, why don't you go round them but its often a toss up between going under the tractor or into the pothole.
but I admit I don't always watch the road ahead with the concentration it deserves.

good to know we beat Hungry,Crotia, serbia for road quality - (I'm assuming they have cleared the land mines by now)
