Just turned 49 and as fit as a fiddle. Fitter then I have ever been. All due to cycling. Eat healthy and be healthy and there's no need for supplements IMO. Unless of course a medical professional has told you that you're lacking and need supplements.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
If it aint broke, dont fix it. There is absolutely no need for vitamins or supplements if you feel fine and have a balanced diet. I don't take anything at all. Im 58. Soon to be 59.

Must admit I've been thinking about the myprotein recovery powder for the first time as since Christmas I've started running for the first time in my life and for some reason it really takes its toll on me with muscle ache etc very unlike cycling as I can happily go out and cycle 10 - 30 miles 3 or 4 times a week with no issues at all, but I've come to the realization in the last week or so that I'm just too overweight (42 and 16 stone) or my knees are just too knackered after years of working on garage floors. As my distance has gone up my left knee has slowly just become more painful to walk on post run, as it feels more joint related than muscle fatigue I don't think supplements would help so I've put the idea to the back of my mind. So after that long winded post I suppose my answer is no.

Like you say a balanced diet's all you need.

After all it did for you when you were on the ration during the war.

Your really pushing your luck :rofl:

I use the myprotein low carb shake at work at break time in the morning so I dont eat crap. I will also use it on a Monday afternoon, I finish work at 4.30, spin class is at 5.30 and circuits is at 6.30. If I don't use it I run out of energy.

I currently take a myprotein multi vitamin as I had a discount code that meant I got them for nothing. I've not noticed any Herculean gains!

And vitamin C.

And I'm just about the same age as the OP

I'm 60. I don't take any medications or supplements. I eat sensibly, drink sensibly and exercise. I am the same weight as I was 35 years ago - 13 stone - and like to think I'm pretty fit for my age. When I look around at the state of some of the younger generation, I despair.

I take cod liver oil tablets in the hope/belief they help keep my joints "oiled". I am 68 and (IMO) quite fit for my age.
I also take a natural/herby type thing.........colloidal silver. Just 3 small squirts each morning as it helps ward off colds etc. Before starting on it I always got at lest one bad chesty cold each winter and this has definitely helped......it's rare I get one now.
I have a VERY balanced diet with a pie & a pint in each hand

I take cod liver oil tablets in the hope that they are good for the joints especially the ones in my hands I injured playing rugby many years ago.
Also taking zinc tablets to boost the immune system.
