Every motorist who's hit me and with whom I've spoken (whether I'm travelling by car, lorry, motorcycle or bicycle) has said they didn't see me.
Similarly, when I've been at fault it has sometimes been because I didn't see someone and I've told them so.
I understand the pique felt by victims of collisions who are told they weren't seen, but these things do happen.
How much more comforting to be told you weren't seen than to be told "
I saw you, but I thought I'd ram you anyway".
That would be much, much worse.
Whether we refer to drivers as cagers, motons or motorists, most of them are careful, considerate and skilled road users.
Sometimes they simply fail to see other road users.
