Am in position to upgrade my summer road bike and have a short list of Specialized roubaix, Lapierre xelius or Rose xeon. All with di2. Any other suggestions gratefully received, up to £4k.
Many thanks in advance.

Something lush in titanium

Or something exotic from the likes of De Rosa, e.g.

Are you looking for disc brakes?

You are rather biased! I'd also go with the Bianchi suggestions.

If it's to be your summer bike, do you really need discs? They do add cost and weight. I reckon you'd do better to spend the money on a good frame and nice light, stiff wheels.

Have a look at a Bianchi Oltre or, for a little more long-distance comfort, Infinito. Very nice bikes. http://www.bianchi.com/uk/bikes/bikes_list.aspx?rangeIDMaster=350765&categoryIDMaster=350769
Do you really need discs?? - YES because it's his bike and thats what he specified - discs are not just specific to winter riding......he could be a big chap that needs the additional stopping power and modulation that disc brakes give

Do they Add weigt??? NO, some disc specific bikes are lighter than their rimmed counterpart (CAAD12) and the bike i own, Synapse hi mod disc

Try a mix of bikes with and without discs...then decide which bike makes your heart flutter which may be a bike with discs, or it may not. You won't be spending 4k without a proper test ride...if a retailer won't allow, take your cash elsewhere tout suite

If the OP could be in York on 21 May, he could join the Cyclist magazine track day and test a load of super bikes.

Superstar or Strato Faster (as raced at the Olympics), with Di2 and a wheel upgrade to MAvic Cosmic 50s should be around £4K

I recently saw a Felt Fr2 at the LBS and it was a lovely machine. List price was £4k and it came with Di2, Kysrium Elite wheels and a pioneer power meter, all in all it looked good bang for the buck. I would certainly consider it if I were int he market with that price range.

There is an FR2 disc version, but as far as I can make out you lose the power meter and Ultegra chains and add an extra £700 to the price. Closer inspection to the spec list would be advised, I think.
