I've signed up for this - just wondered if anyone else is doing it, or has done it in the past? Wondering how hilly it is - I mean everyone says East Anglia is flat but not all of it! I'm also wondering about headwinds as the ride goes towards the east coast!

There's a 50 or a 100 to choose from - I think the final decision may rest with the weather in early May - it could be foul going on the last few years!

Nothing really to worry about there. There a couple of steepish hills Woodbridge way but easy enough to do on a double. See here for elevation profile

Nice ferry trip from Felixstowe ferry to Bawdsey as well which also acts as a bottleneck as you can only get 5 or 6 bikes on at a time !!. Never done this event but cycled a lot of those roads often enough.

Once you have crossed the ferry the route up to Southwold through Aldeburgh is really nice and an absolute joy on a sunny day.

If there is a queue at the ferry there is a nice cafe right next to it serving great bacon rolls ;)

Nice flat Suffolk :bicycle::biggrin:

I am thinking of doing this ride too. But will wait and see how I get on with the local CTC's Audax 115km at the end of March.

I have been thinking about doing this one since the new year... although the wife is moaning at me as I'm also doing the Norwich 100 with BHF.
I really quite fancy it, and I might be able to farm her off to do something else to stop her whinging. I did parts of the route last weekend... lovely roads & the scenery is wonderful.

Go on, you know you want to...

I'll have to drive to the start, I suppose, but at least it means I can jump in a warm, cosy car once I've finished, rather than having to cycle somewhere else!

I'll have to go and buy one then as my current one doesn't fit with my hairstyle.

Think Lidl are doing them on Thursday but not quite sure if Lidl is the way to go. Is it too uncool? Is it even uncooler than my orange hat???

Lidl is so uncool it must be cool. Well I hope it is as I will be down at the local store early Thursday for my summer commute attire.

Yeah, me too, a 25 mile round trip to my Lidl. Thing is, I've got so many things on my shopping list I'll have to stick the panniers back on the bike, so it will be a ponderous journey to the fleshpots of Clacton Lidl. I won't have room in the panniers for the helmet if I buy it so I'd have to wear it home - shocking!
