Indeed. Cold start at 7-8c, but warms up when the suns up. Thinking a base layer on the top half, but I do get rather warm once I start!

I have settled on SS merino base layer, wind proof top and bib longs, plus long fingered gloves. I too can get hot, but won't be going full bore for that distance so want to keep warm. Can't have the cold as an excuse for failure to complete the challenge this time!

But you can have being too warm instead @mattobrien

I had bib shorts, baselayer, shortsleeve top and fingerless gloves. My feet got a little chilly but was fine otherwise!!

50miles (furthest I've ridden in over 3 years for various reasons) done in 3hrs 20s @ av 17.2mph so am pleased with that but aarrgghh for those 20 seconds!! Didn't use any of the rest stops as felt good all the way, beautiful day for it and wait in anticipation to see if matt cracks the 5hrs!

I indulged in some unethical cycling today. Out for my normal 25 mile circuit, only to come across a section of the Cycleswarm with a long line of rather tired-looking cyclists ( I know now it was around the 75 mile mark at Worlingworth), all of which I sped past with cheery greetings from me and comments of how nice the weather was. A couple then drafted me until I turned off in a different direction, at which point they would have realised that I perhaps wasn't as athletic as I seemed.

Too slow from me. Averaged 19.64mph according to Garmin.

Was on schedule up to the 80 mile mark and sadly slowed after that.

All riden solo, so no useful drafts for me.

Great ride today enjoyed it a lot! 104 miles @ 17.6 mph 5.56 hours first 100 for me, was absolutely papping myself before hand! Very cold and damp start went with base layer, cycling long sleeve, bib shorts, leg warmers, head scarf, full gloves, and some home made foot warmers made out of a pair of old thick socks! All the extra stuff pretty much came off as the ride progressed! It all worked well and couldn't fault the support or organisers.
Edit
I did tag onto two other rather nice guys and did get quite a lot of drafting help, which was nice!

Wow, that's a great average!
Thanks, I was pretty pleased. Had we not have gone off a bit quick (20.2 average when we hit Framlingham) I think it would have been slightly higher, suffered a bit in the second half!

However last year I wouldn't even get close to those sort of speeds so my fitness has really improved, just need to stop the bad eating habits to drop some podge and get quicker still :hungry:
