See, instead of making it easier for me to decide you have gone and made it harder. Great bike, can't afford the Di2 version though. Did you go all black 'Stealth'? How long is delivery time?

Yes, I've ordered the black one.
I placed the order last Monday, it's currently in the UPS depot in Tamworth, and due to be delivered to me tomorrow ^_^

A friend got his in a week too, so they seem to have resolved the delivery issues they had a while back.

Instead of choosing a spec to your budget and buying from a brochure, how about going and trying them? I've learned over the years never to get too hung up on spec, as the bike on the shortlist with the lesser paper spec can sometimes be the one that rides best.

I would take the Devinci all day long, for three reasons. 1. It look fantastic. 2. It looks a "Bargain" 3.It is unusual and not one of the big brands. The are very big in Mountain Bikes the Wilson but sadly let down in the UK by the distributor not doing enough work on the brand. In fact I might pop down and have a ride on one on 10 miles up the road from work!! It is lighter than the 2017 model, still a little lumpy at 7.75kg.

First world problems.....So I have finally come to terms with the fact my Boardman SLR 9.4 elite is just too racy for me. It took me five years! I managed over 2500 miles on it last year. I have loved it and would very much keep it as my winter bike. However it is just too slammed, too stiff but so much fun. It has served me well but I am now ready to move onwards and upwards and so I am in the market for an upgrade and ready to purchase my next bike. However having spent about three weeks looking at every bike going I can't decide from a shortlist of four. Thats where you come in.

My wish list:-

1. Carbon frame, slightly relaxed geometry without being sat upright
2. Hydraulic discs - fancy the stopping power, and they look cool
3. Di2 or Ultegra. Spending this much money on a bike then perhaps greedily I want it all. Plus, problems with my hands make it hard to shift on very long (100+ miles) rides Di2 would certainly help but hey, others group sets are great. Currently ride SRAM Red
4. Budget is £2400

My shortlist is as follows, in no particular order:-

A. Devinci SL Ultegra Di2. Canadian gran fondo bike, sells at £3.2k but reduced to less than £2k. Absolute bargain but know nothing about them and hard to find meaningful reviews. Has all the kit, looks awesome and from little reviews I can find they come across very well

B. KTM Revelator SKY Disc Ultegra. Absolutely love this bike, and if I could afford it in Di2 I wouldn't be in this quandary. However I can't afford A Di2 Revelator and would need to go mechanical Ultegra. Another £3.2k bike reduced to £2.4k so top end of the budget.

C. Giant Defy Advanced Pro 2 Dura Ace. I have always loved the look of the Defy and they get great reviews. I am told they a dream to ride. With Dura Ace it's a top spec'd bike that retails at £3.5k and is reduced to £2.4k

D. Trek Domane 6.2 Disc Ultegra. I went to see a Domane at LBS in the flesh and it's a great looking bike. I read good things about comfort. Normally sells at £3.2k but reduced to £2.2k.

I know all four bikes are awesome and represent great value. How do you split them? Answers on a postcard please.....

PS: I know where there is a barely ridden Cannondale Synapse Di2 going second hand for maybe £2k. I have genuinely never had a brand new bike and kind of like the idea of a warranty and knowing exactly where it has been and what it has done. However you would get a lot of bike for £2k!

I have the cannondale thats at the bottom of your thread.....if its 2k fully built then i'd bite their hand off......the frameset alone retails at 2.5k add to that the di2 and finishing kit and you've got one awesome machine. The bb30 is not an issue on the frame itself. People like c-bear do outboard ceramic bearings for the bb30a and then you can switch to whicher crankset you wish and never need worry about the bb30a.......

Its a cracking machine to ride, very compliant down hill at speed and rides very well over rough roads

Although I called it lumpy for a Disc Road bike it is not bad I suppose. The Izalco Max Disc weighed in a 6.7kg but was the lightest out there.

I was in a simlar position..ended up building a KTM Revelator Sky. There are some amazing deals out there if you are prepared to take last year model (frame has remained technically unchanged since 2015 , just the colours). My build, as builds do, ended up costing a little more but very happy with the result

Worth thinking if you want to take it off road since you seem to be after a winter bike. After test rides i got a diverge which fitted me very well and handles well on road anytime of tye year or off road (in the dry). If you want a pure road bike then you probably need something different.

I found hydralic disc brakes and slightly bigger tyres made me ride like a missile down hill beating previous best times easily.

If you do ride one let me know how they are please. I like for the same reasons you list. Very interested.

Great insight, thanks. A lot of them around for sale too. Not so many with Di2, but there are some.

No, off-road not for me I'm afraid.

Thanks..a lot more serious than the rider . my aim was to have something that would climb and descend well and be comfortable on the crap roads around here. Worked out at 6.8 kg as you see it there.

Go see Dan at CycleTechnology in Wakefield.... he may well be able to do a deal on a Trek.

The Domane will blow you away - if you want comfort you wont find anything better.

Yes, been down there and they have a lovely Domane. However it £3100 with a 105 chainset. Not sure it represents as good value as other spec'd options. I am sure it fantastically comfortable but at that price other options just come into play for less. Great LBS though, I do use them for maintenance and servicing quite regularly.

Deposit paid and collect my new bike 25th February.
GT Grade carbon fibre, hydraulic discs with Dura Ace / Ultegra Di2 groupset. Tubeless 28's that could run up to 35's. Also it is in my favourite stealth black, which may not be everyone's taste but I love it. What a bike! Very excited now, like a kid waiting for Christmas. EEK!

Now I need to get training so I can do the bike justice!
