I need to replace the cable on the front brake on my Union as it's a bit worse for wear after 40 odd years outside.

I ordered the SA front hub cable from SJS but the anchor point fitting is different to that cable (and the rear one on the same bike). And the brake end is more like a road bike rather than a barrel and the ferrule is part of the cable assembly.

Can anyone identify what I need from the pictures. Failing that I'll have to make one using a solderless barrel, but I would rather not.

Thanks

If you need to take one of the nipples off, cut the one off the drum brake end and replace it with a pinch bolt assembly, part HSK715.

If you get galvanised rather than stainless steel cables it is perfectly possible to solder on you own cable ends. I had to do this to re-create the original Raleigh cables for my Raleigh Trent.

You need a blowtorch, some flux and solder.

It's a bit different to that, I ordered one of those, the barrel that slots I to the anchor point on the threaded section is a different fitting. I have ordered a pinch bolt though and will build my own.
