Does anybody know of a source for the cable stops shown in the pic half way down this page please http://www.classicli...ry-gillott.html

The ones I've tracked down so far so far are fulcrum clips and the band has a smaller diameter that that necessary for top tubes.

I've tried other options for routing a brake cable to the rear brake where there are no braze ons but this one looks the nicest I reckon

Thanks

Do you know what your top tube's diameter is? For 531 e.g. it can either be 26mm or 25.4mm. If so this might do the trick.

Thanks RA. I have some of those but I want the cable under the top tube and that puts the tiny clamping nut and bolt at the top which has on occasions dug lumps out of my thighs. I ended up with black reftective tape ( on a black bike ) until I find a better solution.

In case there is any misunderstanding, the one pictured in my link are orientated 90 degrees (I believe in fact practically if not exactly the same as those in your Classic Lightweights link), so if you put the cable under the top tube the clamping nut and bolt should by on the side, not the top. Nevertheless I can see how it can still be a hazard.

An alternative I can see is by modify / filing to make room in a suitably sized seatpost clamp (such as this), but it is hard to tell whether there is enough room for the cable without trying.

On one of my bikes I have some nifty zip tie cable routers, the cable routing part is on the outside of the ziptie, so the black band is flat to the circumference of the tube. The cable routing itself is a twin run, two channels with a cover that clips open/shut. You can position these as and where you want them and they look very tidy. I'll try to find a link.

Sorry RA, You're quite right, I'd just presumed that the cable ran 180 degrees from the clamp screw. Mind you, I've tried the clamp screws all round the 360 degrees and I always seem to catch something on them. Ta for the other suggestion I may have a seatpost clamp ot two.

Ta Mac, I was considering just straightforwardcable ties but if theres a modiied type to take a cable run then even better. What's annoying is that I had some of those cable stops as per the Classic Lightweight pics but I have them away to someone running SA cables on an old Rudge.

Annoyingly my google skills have produced nada on these, I know they exist as they're on the bike. I am wondering though whether they came with the SRAM I-9 shifter, I'll check with my LBS. They set it up so they either came with or were supplied by them, but I could actually use some more myself on other projects. I'll let you know.

I made my own using a small strip cut from a sheet of galvanised steel, bent into shape and clamped with an M4 bolt.
