Hi,

After getting soaked this winter for the millionth time I've just purchased an Altura Nevis Jacket and a pair of neoprene overshoes.

What do you guys wear to keep your legs dry on the road bike?

Cheers in advance.

The crazy thing is the more you put on to keep dry the wetter you get from sweat. I am with Marmion, so long as you are warm

I was thinking this would be the answer! I currently wear tights with padded shorts over that keep me warm enough.

I suppose as long as I can keep the top half and feet semi dry all will be ok.

Cheers.

Though O do confess to carrying some Georgia in Dublin Leggits in case of heavy rain, thiugh I've only actually used them twice.

Windproof clothing rather than waterproof.
Assuming you have somewhere to dry it during the day.

I'm sitting here on a Friday night, with Friday legs, and admit to struggling to understand how one would wear mudguards . As for keeping my legs dry, I just don't bother - they do all the hard work, anway, which tends to keep them warm even on the really chilly days (and, yes we do have some of those down under).

If I'm just out riding the bike, then clothes to keep warm is the issue. However, for the 12 mile round trip into town to do all the normal, boring things that one does in town, I wear waterproof trousers that look enough like normal trousers (as opposed to cycling tights) that I don't look like a fool walking round town. Well, I probably do anyway but it's not because of my trousers! (In summer I wear quick drying hiking shorts that dry quickly once the rain stops. If it ever does.)

One day as I was locking up, the hospital chaplain came into the bike shed to lock his bike up. It was vile weather, he was in shorts. When I commented he just said "skin's waterproof"!
It's breathable too!

Incidentally, and without coming across as some kind of crazy stalker, I think I work at the same hospital as you...
