And 'the universe' is disinterested in our affairs.

Sure you can learn things from occurances, or bad luck, but it smacks too much of having brought that bad luck on yourself.

Sometimes drivers don't look where they're going, and knock people off their bikes.

I don't need to be 'taught' that lesson, I already know...
