Anyone have any idea's of how to remove a stuck seat post?

A work colleague has this problem and so far nothing he has tried has worked, including clamping the seat post in a vice and using the frame as leverage.

If its a steel frame you can do it with fire. You will need a repaint job obviously and you can de-weld the welds though I doubt it would happen.

If you cant get hold of a oxy acetylene kit or decent blow torch you can do it in the kitchen

Remove one of the rings on one of the biggest gas hob so you have one big jet flame (full power)

Heat the frame where the seat post is stuck all the way down 6 inch 7 inch ? or however far down its stuck. You want the frame glowing red ! takes about 5 - 10 minutes ?

Leave it to cool down then try removing it. It will fall out

I had a post stuck as a kid and drilled the top of the post and shoved a piece of rod through it and walloped it a few times with a club hammer to loosen it.
and the moral is - Lots of decent grease ( or if carbon the blood of unicorns) .

I had an aloy seatpost stuck in a steel frame and was able to get it out with the use of a blow lamp (I didn't get it red hot) and what I now know to be a pipe wrench which is a wrench that will grip on to cylindrical objects...like pipes for instance. I think I was probably a bit lucky though after hearing some of the horror stories.
