Can you help me separate the seat from its stem? There must be a way, it was put together so it can be put apart I am sure.

I tried making the screw loose (between the rails) but this does not give enough clearance to take the rails out of the barrel.

I have another seat I want to use but its stem is the wrong diameter.

I think you must force the rails out a wee bit.

You normally have to remove the bolt completely. This will allow the top half of the seat clamp to be removed so you can then change the seat. Re-fitting seats is often easier if you're an octopus, but take your time and you'll get there

Not seen that design before - at a guess I would undo the central screw all the way and see if it drops out.

The screw seems to fasten a clamp which doesn't open enough to let the rails out so you could try gently prising that gap apart and seeing if the rails will pop out..

Loosen the bolt until you can rotate the top half of the clamp through 180 degrees.

Failing that remove the screw all together.

there must be a bolt or like that clamp the part above the rails to the main part below the rails , once you find out where it is undo that and hey presto

I figured it out. I removed the screw completely, then it worked like The Snail said above - the bottom part of the barrel slides out. Thanks for the suggestions!
