But they wouldn't use keep right arrows because the authorities don't want to. They really do genuinely believe that cyclists use signed cycle routes and that as the cycle lane is out of action it's too dangerous to use the rest of the carriageway. So for their set of ultrastrange beliefs they think using a keep right sign would be wrong. I'm having this at the moment with a newly constructed signed cycle route where the council just think it insane some cyclist might not possibly want to use their blessed route because they know best.

I think the problem is the status of a lot of these things is they are signed cycle routes and council officials seem to think we can't live without the things hence weird signs like this or the more common "diversion" sign.


Whenever I see one of these, I half expect an amusement arcade or some fairground rides or some such.
Even a big slide would be nice....
