The met are obviously getting much braver with their long term forecasts.

I think the technical term is a "slow moving front"
Or in this case an extremely slow moving weather front

A 70ft tree on the pavement at the top of my street fell down into the garden of the house next to it this morning. It was a bit too short to do much damage to the house and the lady inside didn't hear anything as she is a bit deaf.

Not that much. The major part of it seems to be rotten, with only a three inch outer section holding it in place.

I make no wonder the tree fell, the storm was brewing for 15 years, must have built up to one hell of a blast!
