easy there guys.

I will take it there anyways. I just a little concerned on how much it'd cost me at the moment as I'm due to start a new job in a couple of months and this is an expense I wasn't expecting while still using the bike to go here and there. As long as it doesn't get into 3 figures I'm ok with it.
I am aware you do need to maintain it (and i do) but sometimes I like to see if it's a repair I can do myself and/or learn to fix it. There are some of us who are happy to just take it to a bike shop and pick up the bill while others want to sometimes figure out the cause/problem and look for a solution and exhaust those avenues before having someone else do it.

Do you have the tool for getting the cranks off the bottom bracket ? You'll probably need one of those as well as the correct BB tool.

A temporary fix to get you to the bike shop might be to lean the bike on its side, squirt some grease into the BB shell & work it round until you get some easy rotation.

All sorted now.

Cycled over to H'fords expecting I'd be coming back on a bus but it was all done while I waited. Installed a new BB and adjusted front/rear gears, good as new. One oddity though was that he noticed the BB was installed the wrong way round (whoever assembled it at decathlon). The BB had come out some which was what also made it impossible to go into the largest cog the other day.

Hmm. That's odd. A fiver says the BB shell on the Triban has a left hand thread on one side and a right hand thread on the other. This makes it more or less impossible to fit the BB the wrong way round.
