I only tend to listen to Radio 2 whilst driving, usually for the traffic.
I can't understand why anyone would put themselves through the torture of listening to Sally Traffic or any of the other ones on the off-chance that they'll mention 'the sheer weight of traffic' where you happen to be or plan to be in the next 30 minutes or so.

I really don't care what's happening on the Thelwall Viaduct if I'm trying to get to Weymouth on the A37. And even if they do mention something that might affect you, you'll miss it 'cos you've zoned-out to the background muzak.

Any of the free navigation apps available do a better job and spare us the lame banter between the ageing jock and whoever it is that's paid way too much for merely relating the latest update from 'Rubber Duck'.

6Music for me when I'm driving (or doing pretty much anything else).

To be fair, he was good for the first few years but is long past his sell by date. I've no idea what Scott Mills is like, not having listened to R1 for years.

He's a self-obsessed dickhead with a high opinion of himself who is also blessed with the sort of SOH that you'll find on a junior school playground.

I've never heard anything useful from traffic news. I remember hearing something relevant on one occasion, but it was half an hour too late, and wouldn't have made any difference anyway.

Oh, you've met him too?

I once said I would pay double licence fee if they got rid of him. And Jeremy Vine.

It will be well worth it!

I was both flabbergasted and pleased when our ( nearly ) five year old granddaughter came to visit and said “ Alexa, Alexa, play Radio Six music “ 😎

Craig Charles and Anna Matronic have also been axed, their last Saturday night shows might be tonight.

Only on Radio 2. He's still got the SIX shows on 6Music.
Plus the Gadget Show.
Plus his festival work.
And didn't he have a game show on the TV too ? The guy never sleeps ! Amazing workload !

Barnet,
I got fed up the SW years ago. He was funny when I was younger, but he is too syncophantic now, loving every guest as though he is best mates or slept with them. I'm sure R2 has left me behind a few of years back musically, the only programs I now listen to regularly are the Caris Mathews Blues show and the bonkers Liza Tarbuck on a Saturday evening. R2 seems to be too 1980's/90's centric for me.
Radio 4 and jazz fm for me.

The SW radio shows were well past there sell by date when still on Radio 1 in the late 80's, how has he managed to get away with cringeworthy tat for so long?
The BBC have also announced that the smug, repetitive Sara Cox gets an extra hour on her show, did she get her presenting skills from SW:sad:

I'm probably swapping to his 6Music show now anyway, I listen on catch up when I'm working - the news never makes much sense 3 weeks later lol
