Hi everyone. I'm going to be in London for the next 7 weeks. I'm located in south kensington. Just wondering what good road bike shops are not too far from me. Anything in zones 1 or 2? I don't necessarily have to stick to those zones so if there is some place worth visiting outside of that let me know.

I'm from the states and ride quite frequently at home. 7 weeks is a long time without a bike. Are there any places that rent/hire road bikes for any duration of time around here? Are there any other options that you would suggest?

Thanks for the help.

Oh one more thing. If anything it would be great to get in with a group/club ride once in a while when I'm here. Any suggestions regarding this? I'm willing to travel further for this.

Is this your first time in the UK?

Why is it I always feel like London is such a bad advertisement for the UK. It's just sad if that's all people remember of the UK as many people don't go any further than London. If all your visiting is London, there is so much more to the UK (including cities) than London.

Evans by Waterloo Station has an 'off road' store opposite the station and a road bike store a couple of minutes walk away in The Cut - just round the corner. Evans do 'Ride It' days - their website will give details I'm sure.
As Crock says, there are a few rides out with the London posse of CycleChat...welcome to the UK

Or for that matter, I used to get a lot of joy shuttling between Evans opposite London Bridge station, and On Your Bike, 3 minutes walk along Tooley Street.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone. I will look into it some more. I have family outside of London so maybe I can find something when I visit them as well.
