London 2 Paris 2025 - Cancelled ???

I signed up for London 2 Paris with cure luekima for June 2025.

I paid an initial deposit - and agreed that further payments would be taken from my card.

I didn't hear anymore and emailed them a couple of weeks back as no payments had been taken. I didn't get a reply. But got a general update email just before Xmas - right at the bottom was an acknowledgement that they had problems taking payments - but would be in touch week commencing Jan 6 to tell us what was happening with payments.

This has led to a few speculations that the event isn't going ahead in 2025 - the fact the event is usually fully booked by November - (but this year isn't sold out) has led to further rumours that it isn't happening.

It's one of the few L2P with rolling road closures in France - the charity is cure luekiemia.

Anyone heard anything ?

Just an update of sorts

No reply to my numerous emails sent over the last 10 days. Promised communications from organiser didn't arrive

Looks like this is a dead un. Pretty poor from the charity that they are still happy to take donations from event that is no unlikely to go ahead .

What is the cancellation policy?

Not sure.

The deposit is supposedly non refundable - but I paid via credit card so confident of getting my deposit back. I used the section 75 clause to recover money when events were cancelled due to COVID.

I would think if the organisers cancel they would have to give refunds. Probably why they are stalling.

https://l2prevolution.com/page/terms-and-conditions says Cure Leukaemia will refund if they cancel, but not if it's "for any reason outside of its control." I don't believe that's allowed in a consumer contract but other terms look to me like they've been written by muppets. I guess they hope people won't read them and participants have too much goodwill towards a health charity to pursue anything to court. 😐

I'm disappointed but in some ways quite relieved - there organisation skills seem very hap hazard - as an older guy with a heart condition I wouldn't want to be relying on them should the worst happen.!!!!

I still intend to do this ride - but will book with a dedicated travel company.

The terms do say participants have to have their own medical insurance, so you wouldn't be relying on the organisers.

I hope you hear soon whether it's still on.

Yeah I have that and the whole trip insured.

The radio silence from the organisers has ground my gears tbh - I hate asking people for money and if the plug is pulled it would be pretty embarrassing for me - the charity won't refund just giving donations - unless the individual donors contact the charity.

Pretty poor to be encouraging donations - whilst the events viability isnt 100%
