Stava snags !

I uploaded Strava into my mobile phone, chucked it in the pocket in the back of my jersey, rode 10 miles and all I get is this.....

Its not the 1st time either, I did 18 miles the other day, it recorded 0.6 of a mile and stated that my average speed was 90mph !! (Bradley Hoy better watch out !!!)

I'm using a Cateye Strada on me treader so I know how far and what time etc, but this is just annoying.

The phone is a Galaxy S6, GPS on, mobile data and wifi both off

(yes, I spelled 'Strava' wrong in the heading ! )

Thanks in advance

that is super annoying and I can't really advise on a remedy. Some phones are better at tracking rides than others. I had an iPhone 2s that was awful for some unknown reason. I am now on a Windows Phone (using CycleGPS).

I have had this a couple of times - i tend to turn off the gps, leave a few seconds, then turn back on before i set off on a ride...no actual evidence of it helping, but I can't think of a time when it's gone wrong since I've been doing this. YMMV

I've got the same phone and mobile data and wifi are permanently on, and it Strava's just fine.

Have you tried it with your phone set to airplane mode? mine used to jump around a bit, every time it checked for sms/ reception levels it would drop GPS and not get it again for a minute or two.
I now have it on airplane mode and it's spot on (plus I get some peace and quiet!)

I've only had this happen once, I turned auto pause off as it looked to have paused when stopped at traffic lights but never re-started. All ok now on iPhone 5s.
Your ride looks to have ended near a junction, did you stop there?

Mobile data is irrelevant until you upload the ride. It is the GPS signal that is critical so make sure the phone is in a pocket that has a clear view of the sky or on a mount, although tbh it should still work even in a breast pocket.

Try it with Data and WiFi on, that way you have a-gps which should help a bit. I assume your pockets are not lead lined or anything that would block GPS?

Resolutely on topic
A couple of things to try. Switch data and wifi back on. That should help speed up the phone's ability to determine its position. Android location services works best this way. Try a different app, like Ride With GPS or Map My Ride. If they work OK then it points to Strava being the issue, unlikely as millions use it. If not, it's more likely to be the phone or the way you're using it. Where are you putting the phone? Back pocket? The GPS antenna is at the top, left of the camera as you look at the back of the phone.
