Just need to get used to doing it regualry now , when i 1st started riding longer distances i nibbled all the time .Now i can do a club run on a good brekkie , water and a quick coffee stop with maybe a flapjack .
Today i did 40 miles on ....
brekkie musili + 2 pieces of toast + coffee
1 bottle of zerocal drink.(took 2 just in case )
I think you need to look at your fueling pre ride 1st and you will soon be able to do that distance without the need to nibble with more practise .

And now I've pulled a hamstring playing footy.........it appears I'm no longer 21

Did that about 4 weeks ago, was only off football for 2 weeks, but was back on the bike after a week.

More of a twinge guess.....I kinda ran most of it off during the match, just aching today....hopefully be on the bike Sunday

Ah yes that should be fine then. Mine came with a full on popping/snapping sensation and I couldn't continue (or even stand up for that matter), was really sore for a few days but improved very quickly each day thereafter. Cycling seems to be very low impact on the hamstring (unless you hit hills like an animal lol).

I hit one hill like an animal yesterday ( I crawled up it on all fours ), ruptured my Achilles' tendon 3 years ago so I know your pain.....runnings bad but football causes way more injuries for me.
