Are you sure of its provenance?

You may get plenty of practice pedalling hard ...

I think alicat is asking whether you confirmed it isn't stolen, that seems very cheap for the bike. Lots of bikes on gumtree and eBay and so on aren't the seller's bike to sell

Thanks for the response guys appreciated. Thanks Alicat & Vickster I haven't checked this out. Is there any way of checking to see if it's been nicked?

Bike register

There might be a sticky on here in the stolen bicycles section

Did you ask the seller for a receipt or proof of ownership? How old did they say the bike is?

I would also ask the seller some questions to flush out how much they know about it. If they start hesitating then it doesn't look good eg which model OCR it is eg OCR 1, 2, etc; what year it is; where they bought it from; how many miles they have done; what mechanical problems it has had; what maintenance they have done; what it cost them; what they like about it; what they don't like about it.

Five minutes of enthusiastic buyer questioning should put them on the spot or confirm it really is theirs to sell.

Good luck.

It does sound like the OP has already bought the bike however, so there's not a lot to do except enjoy the bike and hope it isn't stolen

OP did you get a receipt for the bike signed by the seller? Where did you buy it from? If eBay, I assume you have some protection. You can check the serial number on bike register and other sites if you are suspicious

Hi all, thanks for all your advice, I went to pick up today from the seller and asked quite a few questions regarding how long she had the bike etc which Alicat suggested and the response was a little frosty including that she was selling on behalf of her husband who had been given it by a family member she spoke with her partner and was unable to give me any specific info. I also was unable to find the serial no so unfortunately I'm still looking for a new bike. Thanks for all your help guys really appreciate it. Back to the drawing board again!

Hi Steve, I'm unsure if it's stolen or not, I decided against purchasing after the owners inability to answer questions on the bike and I made an assumption regarding it. If I had not had these questions at hand I would of just bought it!
