I nearly 'won' lanterne rouge in one sportive for coming last out of about 500 riders, but then a group of 6 or 7 even more knackered riders limped in after me!


PS In my defence - it was ever so 'slightly lumpy'!

No, but I wished that there had been! Lots of 10%, ample 15%, more than enough 20%, and even some short stretches of 25%.

I took about 9 hrs 15 mins to do 100 miles, whereas I have done the flatter Manchester 100 in under 6 ...
