Mrs SG sold her Boardman hybrid to a friend on Sunday. Today she got a text to say her friend had came of it and could I carry out the required repair to the rear mech / hanger. (Thankfully her friend was ok. Minor bruising but fine other than that.

On getting the bike back over here I found that the hanger was badly bent, the mech was bent and the top jockey wheel broken. I have sourced and ordered the hanger and am ready to press the button the the derailleur order but before I do I need to try and confirm one thing:-

The mech is a SRAM X5, 9 speed, and I suspect it's a medium cage (bike is 50/34 front 11/26 rear) but can't find any measurements to confirm for sure. Anyone know the length of a medium cage?

I got a long cage one you can have for the cost of postage. It's used but vgc, with KCNC sealed bearing jockey wheels. PM me if you need it.

In aid of others that might stumble across this thread I have (finally) found out from the web that a SRAM medium cage measures 75mm from jockey centre to jockey centre.
