It's the SL-500 model (flat bar) i believe. As usual google's got tons of stuff, but nothing relevant that i can find. With similar looking shifters the thing seems to be to undo the allan nut holding the lever on to the body, but if i do, it just turns and nothing happens. The lever seems as attached as ever and i don't want to force anything. Can anyone please tell me what to do before i screw something up? Thanks.

A couple of close up images of the shifter would be good.
I really appreciate the reply, but i've just managed to sort it. The shifter mechanism has a little black rubber 'window' hinged opposite where the cable enters and if you open the slot you can slide the old inner out and the new one in. Hope this may help someone else and that my efforts with the allan key were as ineffective as they appeared to be! The new cables seem to work fine :-)
