Good news !

My shifter works but i am not happy with it, i may just ask for cash off everyone for chritsmas and replace it when i can.
When i shift it does seem to turn in a bit to much and clicks back against the brake lever rather than turning smoothly.
Is it how they are normally ? i only rode the bike twice before mine got bent so it is hard to make a comparison, or maybe it is just the way i push with an inwards twist .

You can adjust the distance from the bars of both the brake lever and the gear-change paddle.

Also, the SRAM-recommended angle for the hoods is to have them aiming at a point just in front of your head when you have hands on the bars.

See if these help. I find it makes quite a difference to comfort when I get them 'just right'.

Cheers i will have a look . If mine are the same i should be able to set the closer to the drops , maybe it was knocked out of alignment with the crash.

Great bike !

Twitchy at the front end but that maybe down to the fact i am used to a bike with alloy forks so it has a lighter front end.

I am still dialing in my set up tbh.

I am getting a bit of numbness in the hands , i have moved the saddle back but i might have it a smidge to high so i will drop it a few mm to counter act the set back and see if that helps .
As i am a short arse i found the small gives me a level saddle to handlebar drop so i might tweak the front spacers but lat time i did that i got back ache after 40 miles or so.

At first i found the apex cassette to wide but after a couple of rides it helped to teach me to spin more and the really low gear was a godsend when i bonked due to indigestion and i could not push a big gear without feeling like i was going to barf.

Had a week off the bike as i was avoiding getting soaked in "sunny" Devon so i will hopefully be out tommorow if my car back ache has settled .

Set the shifter in and the brake lever out a bit and it seems to have helped, thy were both bent a bit so the tweak is probably counteracting the crash damage.

I'm 5' 7" so can sympathise with the short arse bit

First thing I did was replace the stem it was a 120!!!! I needed arm extensions to reach the gears. I had numbness a little but moved the saddle back a tad and that put paid to that.
It's fabulous on the long rides. Get's up to speed very quickly but is a bit lacking on the top end. I am though a spinner so I'm very suited to the bike.
It corners great, picks up a great descent pace and feels sooooooooooooo comfortable.

I'm sold on it

Same happened to me the other week, then a friend last week. Very disappointed in the quality, £160 for a new one ...

Is the Sram rival much different to the apex? I've got the apex and so far it's been a complete PITA. Haven't managed a ride yet without multiple missed shifts. Have tried a lot of adjusting. It seems to work OK on a stand and for the first 10/15 miles and then start going off. I wonder whether it's cable stretch?
I can see why levers might break though, especially the left (front) as it takes quite a lot of force to make it work - hence the strteched cables and going out of adjustment? So much force and such a long movement required that at the end of a tiring day it's quite difficult to change gear.

I've got SRAM Rival on my Kilmeston and its worked perfectly right from the start, I've done just over 2000 miles since I brought the bike 12 months ago and its shifting as well now as it was when new, I've adjusted it once on the adjuster on the down tube. It seems that the Apex is below the Rival in the scheme of things but shares some components.
