Spot welding

Isn't brazing and soldering essentially the same thing?

In a way soldering takes less heat though.You could usually get more strength with brazing.

The problem with introducing anything but localized heat is deformation. It fits very snugly into a EO4 Vapour pump, the shim centres as well as acting to prevent back backing. Originally it was spot welded.....hence hoping to do the same. I think its a copper alloy but cant be certain neither can be Edwards....they didn't have much of a clue.

As I say any local sheetmetalworks could identify and weld/fix that for you.Not a big job

Thanks people, I'm fairly sure its spot welded as you can see the marks on both items.
