Now, if you go and do the same route each week up to the Etape ....

It wasn't their own sportive, it just started in the same town, it was run by Sandy Wallace's lbs ;-)

Oh, I didn't know that at all! Good having two sportives on our doorstep with Dunfermline and Kinross, a wee bit of a pity that they use similar roads and are within a month of each other. They do ride very differently though, I'd say Dunfermline is a fair bit harder!

Never done either but I heard folk say the same and I bimbled round the approximate Dunfermline route with some folks a few weeks back and it was a pretty hard route, they ended up doing 18.4mph for the real thing and the bloke who dropped them towards the end had been in the Donfermline CC Road Race the day before (iirc he averaged nearly 25mph for that)

I done the short route (45 miles) in just over 3 hours which i was pleased about, think i went away too fast and kinda struggled towards the end, good news is i climbed Cleish for the first time (it was slow) but i made it up the whole way this year without cramping up

Wind seemed to play a part for alot of people and at times it was strong enough just to make the going that little harder, all in all a good day and some great people i got speaking to along the way
