Out of the five cyclists, Cooke (the OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALLIST) was barely mentioned. They kept banging about how strong the other cyclists were when for anyone with half a brain could see that Cooke was tucked in, saving her energy, biding her time, responding to moves without panicing and when the hammer went down she did the business as you would have expected her to.

They were almost surprised when she won.
