Spin Bike - brake pad smells and squeaks, chain noisy

I just bought a new (unopened box) Spinner PACE spin bike for indoor exercise during the winter. It was manufactured in early 2012 so it's been sitting around idle for about 3 years.

I'm having the following issues with it:
1) the brake smells pretty bad when I use it. Not only is it revolting but I'm wondering if it's unhealthy.
2) when the flywheel comes into contact with the brakes it makes an intermittent squeaking sound that varies with tightness. Is this normal?
3) the chain on the bike is quite noisy and I can "feel" the gear teeth interlocking with the chain links through the pedals. I'm not sure if this is normal. I have some 3-in-one oil, will this help?

Hoping to get these things resolved because while it provides a good workout it's rather clunky to use.

Thanks!

That doesn't sound to me like a bike that's never been used

I didn't even know spin bikes had brakes.
Me neither. I've got a turbo trainer which apparently doesn't like braking but I've never felt the need to use the brakes. And won't the spin bike slow down after a while when you slow down? I reckon you can solve this by ignoring the brakes.

Chain noise suggests the cogs are badly aligned, assuming it uses rings like a bike does.

Perhaps some of the grease from the axle , while it was sitting, got onto the wheel and into the resistance pad. I might recommend tri-flow for oiling the chain, or chainsaw oil. I usually use tri-flow for problem chains and chainsaw oil for regular maintenance
