In the motorcycle world known as a Tank Slapper. One of my Fireblades was prone too it. Never got me in trouble, unlike this poor fellow (also on a Blade, I believe)

Had a few tank slappers on my motorbike (Kawasaki KR1S, which were known for it), a steering damper cured it, but IME these are generally caused by the rake and trail of the front forks.

It's never been a problem for me. The answer is simple: Don't go fast - No speed, no wobble.

Mind you I do sometimes suffer from sloth wobble.

I had one on my Schwinn the other day, it's usually pretty easy to keep my speed under 25 mph, but that's right about where the speed shimmy seems to happen. I'm hoping my forks aren't out of alignment, the frame is straight and the wheels are good, as are the bearings. Been a while since I had to brace against the top tube. Uneasy doesn't quite explain the feeling.
