The range has changed somewhat, but I'm sure the principles are the same. I've got a 2008 Allez with 105 on it. I've done well over 10 000 miles on it and it's still going strong. I love it. It might not be as light and responsive as my all Addict but in its way I love it more. Supremely comfortable. I've changed the wheels and did have a bit of headset trouble (unique to the '08 model I believe). IMO it would be better than the Scott Speedster.

However, all my recommendations mean nothing if it doesn't fit you. Sit on one. Ride one. If it feels right, it probably is. That's how I chose my Allez.

I am hoping to test ride both an Allez and Secteur either tonight or Saturday. The Scott did feel nice and more stable than the Orbea I rode. If the Specialized bikes feel good then with the price I can get the 2010 model for, it will be one of these that I will be going for.

My goal is that in 3 years time, I will reach the grand age of 50 and for my birthday I intend to buy a carbon bike, which I will use in the summer and keep the bike I am about to buy for the winter.

Thanks once again for all for your input.

Last year I had set my mind on a Giant Defy 3, But after asking for advice on here mean't this didn't get purchased. Norm mentioned the Sectuer, so I went to Leisure Lakes in Bury to check it out. So anyway 8 months later I still love it. I've had no problems whatsoever, it's comfy and quick.
I can't offer any help with the other bikes, but you wouldn't go wrong with a sectuer.
