Specialized Sirrus Elite 2014

So my 10+ year old Dawes Kalahari hybrid is about knackered so I'm kicking around the various sites as to what to get to replace it. So far I seem to have landed on the Specialized Sirrus Elite 2014 as the best bet. It fits in my price range, has a triple chain set, carbon forks so ticks most my boxes.

Anyone got any experience of these bikes or any other suggestions in the same sort of area?

I had a Sirrus and loved it. It's a quick bike. Only sold it because I preferred drop bars.

Nothing wrong with Specialized bikes, but personally they just leave me cold as a product

Can't put my finger on it but suspect it may be that almost every other bike you see is a Spesh. Safety in numbers though eh ;)

That said if it ticks all your boxes as you say it does, and most importantly it sets your heart going then go for it

2012 version here and love it. Wears 23c tyres in the summer and 28's in the winter. Went for the elite as it has the carbon fork with zertz inserts.

I bought an elite disc about a month ago. I did a lot of research and tried a lot of different bikes and kept coming back to it. It was the most comfortable position and also I just felt it was a good quality all round product. So it's a thumbs up from me. If you purchasing it outright without finance try a bit of negotiation in the shop. If I paid in full I was offered a 10% discount or 15% of the bikes value in free accessories.

I tried out the Boardman but found the ride position quite agressive and the medium was too small, the large I felt I was reaching too far. So personally I ruled it out. Good spec for price though

I didn't entertain a boardman as Halfords wouldn't allow me a test ride
