Specialized Sirrus Elite 2009 Road Bike

Hi, I am in a position to by a new road bike and I was considering this bike as good buy with a £500 budget.

I will use it mainly for sprint triathlons and some longer rides and for training. I will have to fit tri bars for the triathlons but apart from that will this bike be ok for the money? Cheers
I have also seen this bike which maybe more ideal for road racing?

The Sirrus is a great fast bike value for money IME but you'll be at a disadvantage in a triathlon, especially if its windy; the allez looks a better bet.

The Spec Sirrus Elite is a good hybrid bike, I have a Sirrus Sport, but a TTer it aint. The geometry is all wrong. You'd be far better on a proper road bike with drops and cheap tri bars or of course a TT frame bike.

Better spending the dosh on a good second hand bike IMHO.

If you get seriously into tri you will want to upgrade a £500 new bike pretty quickly because you will be at a serious disadvantage with someone using top-end gear.

This might be obvious - but have you tried ebay

I know this has added complications - provenance, travel etc - but there are a few Triathlon / TT bikes up there at the moment at or under the £500 mark
