60 year old retired postman here .

One eye and two hearing aids .I have ,with my pension money splashed out on said Elite .61cm ,being tall 6'4" and elderly .I was looking for a faster bike but with an upright position .This bike suits me to a T.Lancashire ,Yorkshire or otherwise .
It's not all 105.But i find it is a comfortable bike that is fast .Well compared to my Dawes Galaxy it's red hot .

It took me 12 months of searching but i am satisfied .And it looks beautiful .There maybe better bikes out there .But for £1,000 and £100 quids worth of freebies .I think it's a great bike .

Going over to York in the morning to see what it's like on the flat .

Hi postman thank you for your reply did you get yours from the harrogate store and did you get to try a demo one out before you bought it.

I have an ultra galaxy at the moment and I am looking for something a bit quicker and lighter, in what ways do you find it different to the galaxy and what is the riding position like compared to the galaxy.

Sorry for the late reply .

Yes i did get it from the Harrogate store .Mark is the man i dealt with.I did not ride it ,but i was offered ,i took one look and loved it .
I have just got back from a ride to Knapton near York .

It is a beautiful ride ,not keen on the saddle it's not the AVATAR it's RIVAL 143 i think. Not a patch on my 20year plus Brooks.

It is a very nice sitting up position and i am tall .The bike is fast .Seriously fast .Just fitted a computer yesterday .But only have 5 functions so cannot tell what my ave speed is (what a numpty ).But i am much faster.

I would recommend this bike to anyone coming from a Dawes Galaxy touring style of riding ,to a faster road bike .

It's beautiful.

Thanks for that postman I have spoken to them on the phone and they have the base model in so I can get an idea of the geometry so I am going to pop in when I get chance and have a sit on one and see what I think.

Thanks for your advice.

Oh yes before I forget did you get some sort of mudguards for yours and if so which ones, when I spoke to someone in the shop at the weekend they seemed to think the clipon SKS ones were the ones to get so I wondered what you thought.

No mudguards .It's going to be a summer no rain bike .

What i did like was the opportunity to raise the bars ,cos of the 4 different angles offered .

It's one really great bike at a great price .

I was wondering what pump have you got, I wanted to use my Topeak Road Morph G but I cant mount it on the crossbar like it is on the galaxy as it is a bendy crossbar on this bike and it doesnt come with the type of mount that fits next to the water bottle.

I have two mini pumps .One is a Blackburn air stick .Other i forget .I have put a triangular bar bag on the frame .And it takes one pump and four sandwiches and a bananna.also a choc bar .Seatpack carries two tubes and tools .

The bike carries the other tool .

After much time spent looking in shops and browsing on the internet I made the decision to purchase a Secteur Elite. Paid a deposit on Saturday and will pick up the new bike on Wednesday. I had a test ride before commiting and this was the clincher.

£100 worth of accesories free with the bike so I got a nice saddle bag combo with repair kit, multitool, tyre levers & pump, A530 clipless pedals, 2 lightweight bottle cages and 3 tubes (which I hope I don't need:laugh:).

What I read on here had a huge bearing on the decision.

Really looking forward to getting out for a proper ride after I pick it up.

+1 picked mine up today spent 5 hours putting on saddles and computers and stuff, just got back from a quick 20 mile ride and I have to say it is a nice & quick & comfy bike .

I tried to put on some Crud Roadracers but I cant get the front of the front mudguard high enough because of the front caliper so if anyone has fitted these and knows the secret please let me know.

hi phil, you may struggle with the guards if you have 25mm tyres,I put 23's on mine and they(raceblades) fit perfectly now.
Oh and join the Secteur owners club quick before it closes.

Hmm I have 23's on it so I cant figure out what is going on the very front of the main guard (not the bolt on bit) is rubbing on the tyre.
