I've had my Brompton M6L for nearly a year now and it has been my most used bike of the three I own. So I thought, as the bad weather is upon us (and autumn approaches) to treat it to a proper service. It was filthy so I gave it a bit of a scrub up beforehand, and then took it along to South Coast Bikes by Hove Lagoon (near Brighton). I'd found a broken spoke on the rear wheel and the chap in the workshop said my chain (I clean it quite regularly) had about two months wear left in it. I got the bike back this morning and I have to say it seems to ride better than it did the day I bought it. I'm not sure of the labour charge as it was calculated in 'units' but as it was £30 per unit I'll hazard a guess that 1 unit= half an hour. My service plus new chain/rear sprocket and spoke amounted to 1.75 'units'.
The work was good and the chaps friendly and helpful. I reckon a service without all the repairs would have been in the region of £40-45. My total bill with parts was £70.20. Not bad for a years heavy usage IMHO.
