New personal best Saturday. 163 miles, with the last twenty being v hard work. Oxford sadly was overrun by thousands of visitors so no time to savour anything!! Had my computer data wiped out when passing the Army Air Corps base in Middle Wallop, guess there may be some powerful radar gear in there. Apart from a knackered knee and lovely tan lines all ok.

Just interested to know how long the journey took you?
I'm cycling to Newcastle in September over 2 days at 165 miles per day. Great North Run the following day followed by the return journey

It was fairly slow at about 11.5 hours, but in that was navigation time and a few unfamiliar towns to get through. I was deliberately pacing it at around 15 mph, to make sure I didn't blow a gasket. Good job I did because it was very hilly in the last thirty. Also did have an issue with stomach pain for about an hour. May not help you plan as we are all different but over that distance steady is the way to go.

I used to live near Oxford, then I moved to Southampton, then back to Oxford, and used to travel between the two quite frequently - but not by bike!

I can only dream of that kind of distance. Well ridden!

IN Oxford, not at :giggle:

I have fond memories of Friday afternoons...

Bunking off School, bus to Cambridge, spend the afternoon admiring young ladies in Summer Dresses a few pints in teh Red Cow or the Spread Eagle, going to the Corn Exchange to see the likes of Curved Air, Ginger Baker, Thin Lizzy.... and then the last bus home
