Hi all,

Having browsed through this forum and the general Interweb, I went to my LBS today to try out a few of the bikes my research brought up, and am down to a choice of 2 (or 3 - well more like 2 1/2). I thought some of you knowledgeable people may be able to give me your opinions on these:

Trek 1.5 WSD (£660): http://www.trekbikes.com/uk/en/bikes/road/1_series/15wsdz/

Giant Avail Womens (£535): http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/giant_avail_3.html

I was also recommended the Trek 1.2 WSD (£575): http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/trek_1.2_wsd_.html but they didn't have that one in stock in anywhere near my size.

So what do you think? I'd be using it mainly for general fitness, eventually commuting to work (fairly good roads), and am toying with the idea of triathlon.

I personally preferred the ride of the Trek 1.5 (expensive taste!), but apparently there's not much difference between that and the 1.2. If I could get away with the 1.2 that may help the finances a bit!

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for your help ;)

Hi Panpipe

Seeing as it isn't my money I would probably plump for the Trek! Looks like a nice bike to me. They look a similar spec though so you could save some £ and get the Giant. Which ever seems the most comfortabkle I guess. I'm sure either would serve you well ;)

Cheers,

and another for the Trek. Very well made bikes

+1 the 1.5 is a cracking frame (not literally) and the component set is great to start and ideal to upgrade over time.
