Sora isn't pants, good reliable groupset. It has a button on the inside of the hoods so changing down is harder if you are riding on the drops, so for a racing purist not favoured. Better than Shimano 2300 but not as good as 105 the next step up the chain. Most Shimano shod road bikes in the £500 to £700 bracket will be fitted with Sora. The more you pay the better the groupset lighter smoother action etc but Sora is well regarded as an entry level sti groupset.

As above.
I have Sora on my SCR3.0 which has worked faultlessly for over two Years now. As said above, you can't change gear on the drops (not up a gear, anyway) but you very quickly get used to it.
I have 105 on my new bike which is nicer than the Sora but, at the end of the day, on both systems you operate a lever, and the gear changes. Can't ask for more than that!

I'd certainly have no qualms about buying a Sora equippred bike again.

The extra gear (sora is 8spd, tiagra is 9spd, 105 and > are 10spd I THINK) and the shifting mechanism makes it easier to shift when riding on the drops. Slight aesthetic step up, although nothing major.

I have Tiagra on my CAAD9, perfectly usable groupset, Ive had no problems.

Sora is a little heavier than 105 and has different shifters. Sora comes in 9 speed the 8 speed has now been discontinued iirc. 2300 or whatever it is called is the lowest end similar to Sora but not quite as good and comes in 8 speed. Think the league is 2300, Sora, Tiagra, 105, Ultegra, Dura-Ace.

Spelling aside, I'd agree with that. B)

Doh!

Didn't spot the typo

I wouldn't say Sora is pants its just not great.
The sora shifters I have fitted to the Sirrus have been extremely reliable. I just don't feel the hoods are comfortable (they get sora on the hand after a while :-) ) Its also a pain that gear shifting has to be done on the hoods only (not the drops).

I'm not sure whats worse than sora but there's plenty of better shifters.

is sora groupset pants ,

whats worse than sora ?

whats soras biggest problem ?

1. No it is not pants.
2. A fair few ranges! Sora is the bottom of the high end ranges - not the bottom of the range. Ok it won't shift as smooth, last as long or be as light as Dura ace, but keep it clean and maintained and it will do the job more than well enough. I'd imagine the chain and the cassette will go quicker than normal, but you can find good deals on chains and cassettes online (I picked up an ultegra chain for £18 on fleabay - new I might add).
3. The biggest problem is the cliqueyness from bike snobs. Some snobs ride nothing but dura ace and will scoff at you for being a mere mortal and using sora. But after a bit of training you will be flying past these people any way

so soras pretty good but basic bit like standard  hoover lifts muck just as good as deluxe models but is  slightly heavier and has less options ,

thanks all it just seems theres no escaping sora on a bike under £700 ,

and if you do get 105 the cost cuttings are elsewhere think id prefer good frame to groupset could always upgrade gears later if frame deserved better ,

im getting a cube ariel cant justify  extra £s to save 500grms on a carbon fork

and with ariel i get free look pedals and pump its 2010 model ,

Carbon forks arent just about shaving a few grams. They contribute to a nicer ride by soaking up road buzz.
