Sora to 105

On my allez i had sora 9 speed and i changed the mechs and shifters to 5700 105 and they worked fine, just had one extra click of nothing

Why didn't you change the cassette to get the full 10 speeds?

Couldnt afford it tbh i picked the shifters and mechs up dirt cheap didnt have the tools to change a cassette which would of cost even more

Sora to 105 shifter I found was a big jump in shift quality and comfort. Sora shifter for front mech was honestly awful- you get a twang as you shifted down. I remember reading a shimano document getting a 10 speed shifter working with a 9 speed cassette- it was to do with how you secured the gear cable to the clamping bolt on the mech- so that the indexing is close to true 9 speed.

but wasn't something to do with an early Dura-Ace.
