Is this a good thing or a bad thing, or does it not make much difference? You're putting these wheels on a Giant Defy, remember, and climbing Norfolk hills.
I assume you are less than 70kg.

I was just saying that for the cost of the wheels, they are pretty light compared to other similar priced wheels...........and yes.....i am less than 70Kg ^_^

One of the World's fastest cyclists Graeme O'bree used to time trial on a fixed wheel, no time wasted changing gear and lighter bike. Why then is everyone so concerned nowadays about how to get more gears?
Whilst I agree that selecting the right gear is essential to produce max power and gearshifts are now quicker with indexing, I think you are a bit slower if the gear is changed. For a start your aero isn't as good, heavier bike, more rotating weight, and power can't be applied at all times.
More gears are probably ok for touring though.

He comes from Scotland and had the hour record. He is very light and enormously powerful, he would still win a TT even over mountainous terrain on a fixed wheel

I am not sure where to start here, I am well aware of Graham, I am also a fixed gear rider. I can guarantee that a fixed gear bike will be slower than a geared a bike over varying terrain.
