lbs used to have a light blue one outside the shop, which has since disappeared, quite possibly to the nearby manchester velodrome, where they have an identical one on display…

Were they not designed by Volvo?

Yes, Biggs682 is quite right. They were built by Volvo between 1980 & 82. Volvo received a loan of 56.000 krona from the Department of Science & Technology.

They come up on e bay occasionally. They are not as rare as you would expect. I am not surprised the other guy couldn't sell it.

No, they're NOT RARE, simply unusual!!. I believe circa 30,000 were built, not sure how many survived. As I display my machines at car shows etc, I tend to go for weird & wacky.
