And using a capital 'J' to indicate a proper noun when refering to Jack, rather than jack...however, this is not exactly relevant to the topic

as stated they are not going to bother with a bike till later in the year . I have told them to visit lots and lots of proper bike shops ( not Halfords) and when they get one that "fits" .

FWIW my sprog has a 54 and it fits fine

the exclamation mark at the end of the sentence would show that, not where he put it. hence my subsequent post. Conveying the correct meaning is easy when you understand the rules.

eg" I like helping my uncle , jack off horses " is far different to " I like helping my uncle jack, off horses " by the correct use of punctuation in the correct place. and yes i am guilty of not using proper punctuation quite regularly.

weirdly, we seem to have "got" it first time around, whilst you didn't. regardless of the position of an exclamation mark!

they can be used to express amazement as well as disbelief, you know.

may i also query the grammatical use of the comma in the first version of your humorous example?

amazement and disbelief in this cointext are the same. perhaps the EX racer could have been a bit more polite like alun from liverpool , but hey we cant all beleive ourselves to be perfect like you can we.

any way admin can you close this its sorted.

cycling loses a possible rider till Jun/July if she is still interested by then as the keyboard warriors think a 54 is too big for this individual.

A standard 54 will be too big for someone who is only 5'4. If Btwin's 54 comes out like a 50, or a 48, that might explain it. Unless she has arms like an octopus....

she tried a Marin argent in 52.5 that was well out of the budget but fitted almost perfectly. the stepover gap from top tube to crotch was closer than anybody liked but dealable with, that said 5ft 8 to 5ft 11 on the sticker as a guide for fitment.

Are all most who responded management consultants by any chance, as the question i asked hasn't been answered and yet it seems to be my fault ;)

only person who answered my original question was alun

Ye Gods! He still hasn't got it!
I have come across people like this before, No idea, so they ask for help, then they won't open their minds to whats being said.
Even in a face to face situation were you can demonstrate the issues these people are hard work.

If you are ever in the Guildford area I would be happy to give you and yours a master class in frame fitting but you will have to get your head out from under the water Mr subaqua.
Feel free to slag me off again, I'm not bothered because I'm laughing as I go. Bye bye.
