SOLVED My pump won't connect to my Presta valves

I recently changed to a bike with Presta valves which I haven't used in a long time. I can't persuade my pump to connect. I reversed the inner parts of the pump's connector as (I think) is the correct procedure to go from Schrader to Presta but it just sits on the valve and doesn't connect. Attached are photos of the pump. What have I got wrong?

Have you unscrewed the small nut on top of the presta valve ?

I hadn't - but I have now. Also, I hadn't got the bits in the pump in the right order. All sorted now. Thank you!
