Solstice celebrations anyone?

(Inspired by Jack Thurston posting a ride from Sarf Wales to Stonehenge, arriving tomorrow morning ... )

Anyone doing anything in the morning?

I'm more successful doing something (often a night ride) for Summer Solstices. It occurs to me that it being a Saturday this year, and late enough (0810-ish) for a lie-in, I ought to make some effort ...

Thoughts? Suggestions?? Outfit choices?

I won't feel equally elated as I feel depressed when it's the longest day. On the 21st of June My thoughts are "It's all downhill from here"! Therefore I should feel "It's all uphill from here after tomorrow", but as we know, it'll be another month before we notice any difference, whereas when it starts to go darker after the 21st of June it seems to start going darker after about a fortnight!🤔

I think this might answer the question as far as cycling is concerned:

Plus more of the same tomorrow:

I will be celebrating in a similar way to @Accy cyclist in that I will be looking forward to that nice 3 days in May when the sun comes out, if 2024 is anything to go by! It really has been a stinker of a year weather wise.

I don't think I will bother as any attempt at a World Record won't count!

9:20 this morning (gmt) is the exact moment the sun reaches its furthest south, and at that moment it starts tracking north - the true start of our winter season which will last until the sun crosses the equator

I have a bell I ring - I get very excited at these sort of things

Pedant Alert . It has been getting lighter in the evening from the 18th . Surely you have noticed the change .

maybe even the 14th, and it will continue to get darker in the mornings until the 30th
(all to do with our egg shaped route around the sun, and the progression of sun midday from before to after clock midday)
