Solo rides vs group rides

Solo allows you to stop, change route or go as fast or slow as you like.

Group allows you to chat, let someone else navigate, unless you are leading, and often results in seeing something you would miss. I saw my first cup and ring marks at the weekend because one of our group remembered they were 15yds off the road as we crested a hill. On my own I would have ridden on.

Riding with a group is more fun but takes some organising and more time set aside. I love riding in a group but as I have many other commitments I find it easier just to get on my bike of a Sunday morning and ride, if I only have 1 1/2 hours to spare then I can ride for all of that time rather than wait around for my riding mates from work (whom I won't name and shame) to turn up with their lame late excuses. Or maybe I am just impatient and insociable.
