Solid tyres totally puncture proof! Are these too good to be true?

I came across these while "Googlng" Saturday morning:

"Greentyre are the world’s leading brand of puncture proof flat free tyres for wheelchairs, bicycles and industrial applications".

http://www.greentyre.co.uk/28inch.html

I use a singlespeed bike with 700X23 tyres and for commuting only riding only 15 miles a day - 5 days a week. Greentyre do make a tyre that would likely fit my wheels.

Has anyone ever used or had any experience with them?

They won't p*nct*re, but will be very heavy and very uncomfortable to ride on. Don't go there.

Those thoughts did cross my mind - the weight especially. At the moment I use Schwalbe Durano plus which weigh 340g. My inner tube must weigh about 150g I suppose. The "solid" Greentyre equivelent are 365g. Regardless I am still a little sceptical.

Cheers for the reply.

Green tyres have been around for well over a decade but have never taken off because they're heavy, slow and, especially in the skinny sizes, wreck wheels. Don't bother. Oh and you'll break all the bones in your fingers fitting them.

The alternatives are:

Learn how to mend a pun*ture/ replace a tube.
Fit puncture resistant tyres.
Fill your tubes with a proprietary sealant.
All of the above.

So, you do not recommend them then?

Many thanks for all the replies! I will go and see what Wiggle have!

Cheers all.
